About the position

As a Director of Market Engagement, you will play a pivotal role in commercial success of the Advanced Materials segment and our range of co-polyester solutions. This position offers an exciting opportunity to leverage your marketing expertise, network and industry knowledge to drive growth and build lasting customer relationships.

In this role you will report to the VP of Marketing & Business Excellence, collaborate closely with your Advanced Materials segment and innovation colleagues, the Business Units heads, Marketing Excellence and Marketing Communications functions, Sales managers and other internal stakeholders from all over the world.

Your main responsibility is to develop strategic market engagement plans and tailored marketing strategies. This role requires the ability to quickly develop an overview and deeper understanding of the industries in focus, it's market dynamics and trends, to support the business to prioritize and drive profitable growth.

What will you do?

Your main tasks, among others, will be:

  • Market Analysis: Conduct comprehensive market research to identify trends, opportunities, and challenges within e.g., the retail and food packaging industry
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and execute market engagement strategies and campaigns that align with the company's objectives and revenue targets
  • Product Positioning: Define and refine the positioning of our Advanced Materials portfolio, ensuring differentiation and value proposition
  • Customer & Value chain Engagement: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to engage with downstream users e.g., multinational food, beverage and service brands, retailers as well as key customers, understand their needs; and identify potential gaps in our offerings
  • Competitive Analysis: Monitor and analyze competitor activities, providing insights to inform strategic decisions
  • Sales & Marketing material: Ensure that we have compelling and relevant marketing collateral, including presentations and digital content to engage key stakeholders in e.g., the packaging value chain
  • Provide the content and guidance to Launch- and Communications project managers to develop market communication & sales materials
  • Strategic Sales Support: Collaborate closely with the Business segment development- and sales teams to provide marketing support, including training, materials, and value chain engagement initiatives
  • Define overall value proposition and Go-To-Market tactics per region and market segment
  • Understand and proactively address relevant sustainability trends and needs along the value chain

Who are you?

You will need to bring the following qualifications for this assignment:

  • Have a technical education (e.g. B.Sc. or M.Sc.) or a business education (B.Sc. or M.Sc.)
  • Have experience from commercial and/or technical roles in the B2B2C businesses or chemical/material industries, where you have proven your strong business acumen, executive sales- & business development, stakeholder relations, project & innovation management, and cross-functional leadership experience.
  • Experience from the FMCG packaging industry and from interacting with retailers and food & beverage brands is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel as needed (~ 20%)
  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written

The successful candidate will be able to build relationships at all levels in the target value chain, with commercial, marketing and technical stakeholders. You should have a full understanding of the buying process and a solid technical understanding is essential.
