In the industry more and more interest in the sow and her health is emerging. In swine production there are several issues concerning the sow. Loss of feed intake, negative energy balance and constipation or diarrhea can impact the sow's productivity. These problems affect the piglets as well: high mortality, too little milk and lack of uniformity. Taking care of our sows and making sure she is in optimal health is therefore very important.

Field trial with local bred sows in Spain

To investigate the effects of ProPhorce SR in the lactation diet of sows, a trial was set up in Spain with a local breed of swine: Batellé. Results showed that addition of ProPhorce SR™ in the diet can positively influence both sow and piglet health.

Field trial with sows in Poland

In this trial the Danbred sows at a full cycle farm in Poland were fed ProPhorce SR™in the lactation diet. To see what the effect on the piglet was, their performance was measured. And of course the sow's performance was measured to see the direct effects. Read the summary here.
