Mass balance is an important mechanism to start the large-scale phasing out of fossil raw materials with the goal of a fully converted chemical industry. Mass balance enables a step-by-step transformation towards using recycled and/or renewable feed stock.

Traceable Mass Balance

When mass balance methodologies are applied, in our view it is crucial that they are credible and drive real change and development of new raw materials and production processes. That is why we, together with other companies and stakeholders, have developed a few principles for using a mass balance that applies transparency and traceability. We call this Traceable Mass Balance.

Partnering with IKEA, Velux, and the LEGO Group regarding mass balance

The European Commission is currently discussing the definition of mass balance, which will have large impact for end consumers, brand owners and producing industry. Therefore, IKEA, the LEGO Group, Velux, and Perstorp have shared a letter stating our joint position of a mass balance definition.
