Elin, Business Manager
Meet Our Business Manager in the Oxo and Plasticizer Team
Elin is Business Manager in the Oxo and Plasticizer team, part of Commercial and Innovation. She stepped in to her current role in the summer of 2023 after returning from a 3-year expat assignment in the Netherlands. Her journey at Perstorp started in 2017 as a process engineer, and this is now her third role within the company. Elin is globally responsible for five products in the Oxo portfolio, with responsibilities including price setting, overseeing forecasting, and developing sales strategies for the products.
“In my current role, I enjoy the fast pace and the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues across the globe. I learn something new every day, which keeps me engaged and constantly improving,” says Elin.
The business landscape is constantly shifting, requiring both short-term focus and long-term strategic planning. Elin describes her role as playing a strategy game – where knowledge of competitors, customers, and global events is crucial to make the right decisions on sales volumes and pricing across different regions.
“The most challenging part of my role is building up the business skillset that some of my colleagues have, but it's part of the learning process. In the business world, you often won't know if you made the right decision until later, so there's always an element of risk involved – and that's both challenging and exciting”, Elin continues.
Elin’s original career goal was in the field of oncology and to do research on cancer. Over time, her interests shifted as she explored different fields during her studies, which is when the interest in business and sales grew. After 2.5 years as a process engineer, she took on the role of Plant Manager in Perstorp’s plant in Dordrecht, Netherlands, where she spent three years. Later she transitioned to her current role as Business Manager in the Oxo team.
“The best thing about working at Perstorp, and something most of my colleagues would agree with, is the people. There's a strong culture of trust and support, which has been key to my rapid development within the company. I've had managers and colleagues who believed in me, allowing me to grow quickly. Despite my lack of formal business experience, I had a lot of support from my manager when the opportunity of my current role presented itself”, Elin concludes.
